St. Luke’s Church Community Centre

St Luke's Church Community Centre is just that, a Church which is used for worship jointly by Anglicans and the United Reformed Church but it is also a community centre, used widely by local groups and organisations. The building has a range of rooms and halls available for private hire and two kitchens, which are available to all users. It is the aim of the centre to provide a good value facility for use by the local community for education, leisure and fun! See Community activities and clubs for ‘what’s on’ and Rooms for hire below to see in detail what the centre has to offer. The centre is also ideal for regular classes and groups and for one-off bookings such as children's birthday parties.

The Church Centre is located near the centre of Cambridge on Victoria Road. Please see the details here for directions. The Bookings Clerk works on Wednesdays and Fridays from 9.30 am-12.00 am. Please get in touch if you would like any information about any of the groups that meet here or if you would like to hire any of the rooms.

St. Giles’ Church

At St Giles, there is no space other than the church itself, but this can be hired for activities compatible with its main worship function, subject to approval by the St. Giles’ Church Council (DCC) and Churchwardens.

In practice this has mostly meant music: rehearsals and concerts by bands, orchestras and choral groups of various sizes, for which the church provides a large and beautiful auditorium with an excellent acoustic.  Other activities can be considered for approval.

See the Charges page for the cost of hiring St. Giles' Church.

Enquiries about hiring St Giles' can be sent via the Parish Office, tel: 01223 315000 or by email. Please include contact details, proposed date(s) and time(s) and a brief description of desired activity.

Seating capacity

Seating space for the audience is in the range 100-150 approximately, depending partly on the layout and amount of space and seating required for performers. For some events it is possible to accommodate more people.

Facilities

There is a sound system consisting of a radio microphone and amplification.

Kitchen facilities are available at the back of the church.

Disabled Facilities

The Church has disabled facilities that include access by car to the disabled access entrance, an internal ramp and disabled toilet.

There is an audio loop system for those with hearing aids.
