Cambridgeshire Older People's Enterprise and St. Luke's Church are hosting a Silver Sunday Afternoon Tea - an Afternoon Tea of tasty sandwiches and cake and a fun sociable time with music and singalong. If you know any older people who would enjoy such an event and should be invited, please give their names to Heather Taplin, 01223 311136, who will arrange for a Free ticket. There is a small charge of £2 for other tickets, available at the door.
Immediately after the Saturday evening Vigil Eucharist for Lammastide at 6 pm there will be a harvest supper, home baked breads, cheeses, a ham perhaps, chicken and sea food salads etc., and fruit with wine or cider.
Bring your own picnic along and join our new neighbours in the Kings Court development, up Huntingdon Road. The exact location is shown on the attached map.
This summer holiday club is a Montessori-inspired approach to storytelling with creative and artistic play. It will run over three weekly sessions, offering two groups for children aged 3-6 and 7-11. Two or three adults will be present in each session which will last for around 60 minutes for the younger children and up to 90 minutes for the older group. Parents and younger children are welcome to stay and play in our coffee morning, which runs at the same time.
A cost of £2 per session covers children's art materials and refreshments.
This monthly working party meets at the Burial Ground (off Huntingdon Road) to clear graves, working under the guidance of Rod Ailes. Please bring gloves (if you have them) and stout shoes are essential, secateurs, loppers and any garden waste sacks very desirable if you have them. It can also be thirsty work, so do bring a drink as well.
No working party in August. Autumn dates to be confirmed.
Inside the church the Cambridge Embroiderers' Guild will have an exhibition to celebrate 300 years of Lancelot 'Capability' Brown's landscape designs (1716-1783).
They will also have a stall outside.
The Alphabet Museum is throwing open its doors again as part of Cambridge Open Studios. It is located in the former Chapel of Rest at the Ascension Burial Ground and is the working studio of Eric Marland. Telephone 07790 836153 if you need directions. Eric will be there to show you his work and collection.
