St Giles with St Peter’s

Some parts of St Giles’ date back to 1092. The worship is liberal catholic, in the Anglican Church tradition. The church is kept open whenever possible as a quiet city-centre space for prayer and meditation with a peaceful garden which all are welcome to enjoy. When restrictions allow this St Giles’ welcomes people in for the musical events, concerts, conferences, celebrations, commemorations, sales in support of charities, including those supporting homeless people, the annual parish Summer Fair and a Christmas Tree Festival. The garden is variously used for fun days, garden parties and picnics. Please feel free to enjoy this space to eat your lunch if you’re working or passing nearby. Our local schools enjoy worship events and educational visits during term time. Our Parish Office is based there, but currently the Parish Administrator is working from home.

Sunday Services at St Giles with St Peter’s

The 9.00 am Sunday Eucharist uses the Common Worship liturgy and lasts an hour. It is partly sung and uses incense (a symbol of prayer rising to God). Hymns are accompanied on the fine pipe organ. Children are welcome and there is a children’s area with books and toys in the South Aisle.
On the third Sunday of each month there is a Communion and healing service with the laying on of hands.

Weekday Services

The 10.00 am Thursday morning Communion is a quiet, reflective service held in the Lady Chapel. This service lasts approximately 30 minutes, followed by refreshments and time to talk.
